The Unfrozen Few Named Finalist in the 2026 American Fiction Awards
A five-time Lambda Literary Award finalist, Randy Boyd earns another Finalist honor for his latest work.
Randy Boyd’s The Unfrozen Few, Book One: Welcome to the Future has been named a Finalist in the LGBTQ+ Fiction category of the 9th Annual American Fiction Awards. Results were announced August 3, 2026. American Book Fest, which presents the awards annually across dozens of genre categories, recognizes Finalists for standing out in craft and storytelling.
“Feels great to be recognized,” Boyd said. “It’s not every day someone reads a 600-page speculative mystery about a group of AIDS patients resurrected from the 1980s. The fact that anyone gets it — feels for the characters and the story, especially enough to say, ‘Hey, you’re good enough to single out’ — I’m beyond grateful.”
The Unfrozen Few was released February 11, 2026 and is Boyd’s first novel in 21 years.
