Randy Boyd Talks Free Love, HIV Stigma and The Unfrozen Few on Tub Talks With Damon

On a show where every guest gets in the tub, Boyd came clean.

New York therapist and longtime PrEP advocate Damon L. Jacobs talked with Randy Boyd about free love, HIV stigma and writing The Unfrozen Few, Book One: Welcome to the Future. The story follows a group of AIDS patients who wake up in present-day America after being cryogenically frozen in the 1980s.

Since launching in 2021, Tub Talks With Damon has featured dozens of guests, from HIV policy expert Greg Millett to journalist and ACT UP veteran Liz Highleyman, in candid conversations about sex, body image, HIV and wellness, all from the comfort of a bubble bath.

“Never have I ever done an interview in a tub,” Boyd said. “At first, I felt nervous, vulnerable and very exposed. But once I focused on the importance of Damon’s work—giving voice to people facing many of the same challenges I have, especially around HIV—the setting almost became secondary. You stop thinking about the fact that you’re soaking wet in a bathtub and just bare it all, in more ways than one.”
